What do you enjoy most about teaching? I especially enjoy teaching middle school students because of their energy and eagerness to learn. It's gratifying to help students find their strengths as well as help them overcome gaps or struggles in their learning. I love showing students and their parents their individual growth over a school year.

What do you find the most challenging about teaching? It has been challenging to meet the needs of all students struggling with mental health issues, especially since 2020. Fortunately, as teachers, we have been provided with Social Emotional Learning resources to help students.

Best tip for new teachers: My best tip for new teachers is to start each day fresh even after a challenging day. This positive energy will spread to your students and help you to remain confident in your teaching.

Best tip for career teachers: As a career teacher, I believe it's important to continue learning and model this new learning for your students as well.

Favorite piece of advice for students: Students, this is a great time in your life to explore your talents and take a risk to try new things. Try playing an instrument or try out a new sport; join a club or group; meet new people.

What being a Gold Star Teacher means to you: It is truly an honor to be selected as a Gold Star Teacher. It's surprising to be included in this incredible group of educators I have admired and respected over the years.
